Abstract

Abstract: «Mountains» as an object of knowledge collectively developed from scientific debate. The article presents an analysis of the interactions which took place among world specialists attending the IMRW meeting on the subject of mountains as an object of knowledge. It focuses its attention on both linguistic and communicational processes in attempting to define, delimit and characterise « mountains » as an object of learning. Analysis of these processes enables a better understanding of how knowledge develops collectively within the practices of a group, and of how it becomes enriched and transformed as a result of scientific discussion.
