Abstract

Abstract Infrared spectra (1000-40 cm −1) of antimonates M ISbO 3 and M IISb 2O 6 belonging to six different structures were studied. Factor group analysis was thoroughly used to classify the vibrations νSbO, δOSbO and ν metal. Infrared spectra were assigned. Characteristic vibrations for each type of structure were pointed out: νSbO edge from 550 to 600 cm −1 and νSbO apex above 700 cm −1 and at about 450 cm −1.
