Abstract

Abstract Fifteen cases of cementoma are reported and discussed. This material is presented with the suggestion that the reaction of the periodontal membrane in the production of the cementoma may be essentially similar to the process resulting in the formation of ossifying fibromas, fibrous ostcomas, and fibrous dysplasia of bone. If this analogy is true, then one is not entirely justified in assuming that the cementoma is a rare tumor. It likewise becomes important, then, to place more stress on the histologic analysis of such lesions if an accurate diagnosis is to be forthcoming.
