Abstract

Abstract The authors have investigated the patterns of polymerization and copolymerization of 1,4-tetramethylene diisocyanate with 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate with use as catalyst of tris-(diethylamido) phosphite. It is shown that this catalyst permits cyclopolymerization of the diisocyanates in bulk with formation of polymers containing uretidinedione and isocyanurate cycles. The thermal and heat stability of the homo- and copolymers synthesized by cyclopolymerization of aliphatic diisocyanates has been studied.
