Abstract

Abstract Mixing electric and magnetic properties of excited subbands in Si(001) electron inversion layers in parallel magnetic fields is studied by means of electron tunneling technique. With depletion charge densities ranging from about zero (accumulation) to N depl = 2 × 10 11 cm −2 and magnetic fields up to B = 15 T, transition from the bulk Landau ladder to diamagnetically shifted electric subbands is observed.
