Abstract

Abstract This paper proposes the use of the finite pointset method for the numerical solution of two-dimensional transient heat conduction problems. The strong formulation of the parabolic partial differential equation is directly used instead of the corresponding weak form. Moreover, a numerical comparison between the finite pointset method and the corresponding analytical solutions is reported.
