Abstract

Abstract By waxing and burning experiments the receptor involved in the release of the heart-stimulating agent from the corpus cardiacum by feeding on glucose is shown to be situated on the posterior-lateral borders of the inner surface of the labrum. Nerve section reveals that the stimulus travels to the brain in the labral nerve, and from the brain to the corpus cardiacum via the frontal connectives, frontal ganglion, and recurrent nerve. The suboesophageal ganglion also appears to be involved.
