Abstract

Summary It is estimated that the use of a membrane diaphragm filter press can achieve solids concentrations in excess of 35% with water and sewage sludges, and cycle times can be significantly reduced, allowing higher throughputs. By comparison, a standard recessed filter press and similar devices usually achieve about 20% cake dry solids.
