Abstract

Abstract The influence of the variations of the physical properties with temperature on the structure of thermal plumes in air, is numerically determined. It is in that purpose that the evolution of the initial theoretical profiles is studied in the case of constant properties (giving self-preserving solutions) and in the case of variable properties. The development of the flow in these two cases is found to be significantly different. More over, the comparison with numerical calculations and our laboratory's experiment is satisfactory.
