Study of Excitation and Emission Processes in Organic Dye-Chloroplast Mixture by Using a N_2 Laser with Subnanosecond Pulse



The excitation and emission processes in the mixture system of organic dye (coumarin-1) and spinach chloroplast have been studied. A simple N_2 laser which operates at atmosphere and generates a subnanosecond pulse was employed as the pumping optical source. On several samples in vivo and in vitro, the energy transfer from the excited coumarin-1 dye to chloroplast occurred with a high transfer rate. The sensitized fluorescence of chloroplast was observed as a result of this kinetics.
