Abstract

Abstract Condensed gases are a ubiquitous substance on surfaces in the outer solar system. In this paper the effects of incident charged particles on the icy surfaces of the satellites of Jupiter and Saturn, comets, ring particles and ice grains are reviewed using recent data on ion erosion of condensed gases.
