Abstract

Abstract The nature of the world sugar economy is changing very rapidly. Some of the developments leading to these changes will determine whether there will be another sugar famine or a glut by 1980. The authors emphasise the uncertainties facing the world's sugar economy, but conclude that a reasonable balance between supply and demand does seem likely.
