Abstract

Abstract The thermodynamic metal-ligand stability constants of eight N-arylhydroxamic acids with copper(II), zinc(II), nickel(II) and manganese(II) have been determined in 50 vol.% dioxane-water medium at 35° following Bjerrum-Calvin titration technique as applied by Van Uitert et al. to mixed aqueous solvents. The stabilities of the complexes mostly follow the order of basicities of the ligands and also the electron affinities of the metal ions as measured by their second ionization potential.
