Since the economic crisis of 1997, the number of the unemployed increased dramatically, which was totally new experience for us. Also the cases of family dissolution were reported by the newspapers and TV. The problem of job loss brought the issue of family breakup in front of us. From the view of social welfare, it is necessary to pat attention to the family mechanism as a way of dealing the stress triggered by father`s job loss, which makes it possible to develop preventive programs for family dissolution. The study conducted survey research with 185 unemployed male heads of households. The concept of family dissolution was measured through structural and functional breakup. The 5% of the respondents had experienced structural family dissolution since their job loss. The phenomena of functional dissolution among the interviewed were not so much severe except some aspects of family life such as communication cutoff between the respondents and their wives, their children, sexual relationship. Results of regression analysis showed that the factors such as age, marital satisfaction, emotion-focused coping strategies, the length of unemployment were significantly related to the family breakup.
