Abstract

Abstract 1. 1. Rapid contact cracking of soft paraffins and other paraffinic petroleum products has been studied. 2. 2. It is shown that, under conditions of rapid cracking of paraffinic petroleum products, α-olefins are the primary products of decomposition. The olefin content in the fraction boiling at a temperature below 150° from the rapid cracking of soft paraffin 70–75%. Products of rapid cracking of paraffin wax and paraffin was containing oil which cannot be extruded distilling in the range of 200–350°, contained up to 85% unsaturated compounds, mainly α-olefins. 3. 3. Rapid cracking of soft paraffin has been studied in a semi-industrial plant in the Moscow “Neftegaz” works. The appropriate operating values of the process are reported. 4. 4. High concentration of α-olefins in products of rapid cracking makes it possible to separate narrow fractions which contain up to 95% of individual α-olefins by definite fractionation.
