Abstract

Enthalpy measurements have been made on tetragonal germanium dioxide in the temperature range 298 to 1300 K and thermodynamic properties have been derived from the results. The heat capacity of tetragonal germanium dioxide is now known from 5 to 1300 K. The heat capacity of tetragonal germanium dioxide has been compared with reported values for the hexagonal variety, and the thermodynamic properties have been used to evaluate the Gibbs energies derived from two high temperature studies.
