Abstract

Abstract The elastic constants of uranium-7.5 wt.% niobium-2.5 wt.% zirconium (Mulberry) were measured in the pressure range from 1 bar to 18 kbar (1 bar = 10 5 n/ m 2). Initial values of C 11 and C 12 were found to be 1.34 and 0.92 mbar. For dC 11 dP and dC 12 dP , values of 5.8 and 4.1 were obtained. The initial bulk modulus, K, was 1.06 mbar, and dK dP was determined to be 4.6.
