Abstract

Abstract The bromide anation reaction of diaquo(triaminotriethylamine)cobalt(III) ion has been studied spectrophotometrically. The kinetics fit a rate law -d[complex] dt =k AN[Br −][complex] k AN typically 10 −4 sec −1 M −1. The activation parameters: ΔH * = 25.2±0.4 kcal/mol −1, ΔG * = 24.3±0.3 kcal/mol −1, and ΔS * = 0.19±1.1 cal deg −1 mol −1 at ionic strength 2.0 M.
