A Study on Logistics Partnership and Performance of Korean Firms

Business logistics is vital to achieving firms' competitive advantage. To gain a sustainable competitive advantage, some companies are outsourcing some of their logistics functions to outside firms. This study focuses on how firms can improve their global competitiveness by reinforcing their logistical systems. This study attempts to conceptualize the concept of third party logistics, draws some implications from previous studies and field surveys, and suggest how to implement third party logistics in Korea effectively and efficiently. More specifically, this paper will be compared on three topics : (1) partnership patterns which the shippers frequently used ; (2) the most commonly used services ; (3) logistics performance on third party relationships
