Abstract

Abstract A protein of 34,500 daltons was detected by means of SDS-gel electrophoresis in brome mosaic virus-infected barley leaves. This protein, synthesized only at an early stage of infection, was found to be associated with cell fractions rich in particulate bound BMV-RNA polymerase activity. After solubilization of this activity by Triton X-100 treatment, this protein was found only in the sucrose gradient fractions also containing polymerase activity.
