Abstract

Abstract An external electric field was applied perpendicular to the twofold axis and in the metal-ligand plane of the C2/c [Zn(bpy) 3](ClO 4( 2 lattice doped with the specifically deuterated complex [Ru(bpy)(bpy- d 8) 2] 2+. Pseudo-Stark splittings observed in luminescence and excitation spectra of the lowest-energy 3MLCT origins provide an elegant confirmation of our previous assignments of origins to independent 3MLCT excitations of the bpy or the bpy- d 8 ligands.
