Abstract

Abstract Several (trialkylgermyl)alkali metals (M = Li, Na, K) were investigated by UV, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic methods to clarify the nature of a germanium-(alkali metal) bond. On conversion of a trialkylgermane to the corresponding germylalkali metals, the bathochromic shift of UV absorption maxima, upfield shift of the 1H NMR signals and downfield shift of the 13C NMR signal are observed.
