4. The Gamma Function

Publisher Summary The gamma function is discussed in this chapter. Passing to the complex variable z =x +iy one can see that the integral exists for any z in the right half-plane. The function may be extended analytically to the left half-plane if one makes use of the functional equation. The chapter also informs that the Gamma function cannot have a zero because the product is a convergent one.
