Abstract

Graphical abstract Synthesis and characterization of chiral ferrocenyl selenides via straightforward reaction of 1,1′-dilithioferrocene with optically active terpene dialkyl diselenides is described. Obtained compounds constitute an entirely new class of chiral ferrocenyl selenides. The X-ray crystal structure of known 1,1′-bis(phenylseleno)ferrocene is reported. Highlights ► New chiral ferrocenyl selenides. ► Utilization of optically active terpene dialkyl diselenides toward ferrocene functionalization. ► X-ray diffraction studies on 1,1′-bis(phenylseleno)ferrocene.
