Abstract

Abstract The spectral properties of molecular complexes between some [2.2]paracyclophane-azomethines and both tetracyanoethylene and 1,4-benzoquinones in methylene chloride have been examined. The probability of existence of the electronic transanular substituent effect in the [2.2]paracyclophane-azomethines, as well as the effect of the different substituted aryl groups on complexation have been discussed. The stoichiometry, transition energy and apparent formation constants of the molecular complexes formed have been determined spectrophotometrically.
