Abstract

Abstract We report a new polydiacetylene compound that exhibits excellent optical limiting properties with reverse saturable absorption. The optical limiting properties of this compound were measured at 532 nm, using 8 ns pulses, and compared with a C 60 solution in toluene with a transmission of 60%. The limiting threshold and limiting amplitude values are 110 mJ/cm 2 and 150 mJ/cm 2 respectively for a sample with a transmittance of 56%.
