Gas effusion spectra of sintered YBa2Cu3OXand the intercalation of CO2

Abstract

Abstract Evolved gases from YBCO at constant heating ratio were analysed by gas effusion spectra and by the mass spectroscopy. Gas effusion spectra at lower temperature of both superconductive and non-Superconductive YBCO show rather periodic multiple peaks which are similar to spectra of intercalated materials and are attributed to the intercalation of H 2O. Gas effusions of CO 2 are observed not only as a main peak nearly at 700∼800°C but also between 50–500°C. There are several types of CO 2 in YBCO including the intercalation.
