Abstract

Abstract The sigmoidal dose-response curve in the reaction between EAC1–8hu and C9 was analysed mathematically using a new theoretical model. Our model can entirely cover the previously reported theories for the immune hemolysis and can be applied to the reaction even when the reaction conforms to ‘one site-multiple’ theory, when cells have only a few number of sites per cell or when limited or multiple number of molecules can fix to a site on a cell. Simulation study for the experimental dose-response curve of C9 with EAC1–8hu revealed that the experimental data coincided with the theoretical curve assuming that EAC1–8hu was lysed when two molecules of C9 fixed to one site on the cell.
