Abstract

Abstract Co-feeding experiments have shown that ethene readily initiates the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis without altering the chain-growth probability, even when it is present in high concentrations. Propagation by ethene was found to be unlikely. When present in concentrations of 5 mol% or higher, ethene substantially suppresses methane formation by surface hydrogen and surface intermediate scavenging.
