Abstract

Abstract The vibration frequencies of some double sulphates of sodium and divalent metals have been assigned. Some of the results agree with what would be expected from X-ray and NMR measurements. Vibrations of the water molecules depend upon the M-O bonds and hydrogen bonds. Vibration frequencies of the M-O bond for M = Cr, Cu, Mn and Cd have been classified and differentiated by the observation of Jahn-Teller effect.
