Abstract

Abstract Spherical γ′ precipitates growing in solid γ matrix by coarsening showed morphological instability with abrupt temperature drop. The morphological instability driven by the point effect of diffusion seems to be a general phenomenon regardless of the nature of the matrix phase and regardless of the ageing stage.
