Abstract Focusing on health management issues in system integration, this paper holds that the influences on system health comes from three aspects—availability, adaptability and altruism impact and discusses them respectively. Availability, the basis of system, contains the initial energy. Adaptability reflects the effect of system management and may serve as mitigation to the availability consumption. Impact means that the system gets involved in the environment as an impact factor, becomes part of it and influences the other systems, promoting or suppressing. In addition, system health issues are probed into from the perspective of energy. It is believed that the availability is a starting point for systematic analysis of integration system while availability irreversible consumption has the characteristics of entropy. Finally from the perspective of the available energy conversion, the system prognostics and health management issues are analyzed in detail.
