Abstract

Abstract A technique is described for the formation of Langmuir-Blodgett films of lipid-enzyme mixtures by using a conventional constant-perimeter barrier trough. Bilayers of 22-tricosenoic acid-glucose oxidase and L-α-phosphatidylethanolamine dipalmitoyl-glucose oxidase have been built-up on silicon substrates and investigated using IR spectroscopy. The results indicate that both the fatty acid and the phospho-lipid materials can be used to successfully immobilize the enzyme.
