Abstract

Sixty-six species of mesophilic fungi were isolated from mushroom compost by the dilution plate method and their percentage frequency of occurrence determined at the various stages of composting. Relative cellulolytic activity was measured and strong cellulolytic activity was shown by 57% of the species isolated, while another 35% showed moderate ability to utilize cellulose.
