Abstract

Abstract A thirty year old North Indian woman with nutritional osteomalacia and coincidental primary hyperparathyroidism is described. Clinical and chemical evidence of primary hyperparathyroidism was masked by the presence of nutritional osteomalacia. Symptoms of the hypercalcemic state appeared when vitamin D was administered. A chief cell adenoma was removed; the other three parathyroid glands were normal.
