Abstract

The phenomenon of parasitism is encountered in all phyla of living creatures - vegetable and animal - from the largest to the smallest, from the most primitive to the most complex. Parasites themselves range from free-living ectoparasites such as fleas and ticks through to those absolutely host-dependent endoparasites such as trypanosomes and endamoebae.
