Abstract

Abstract The differential cross section for CN − formaition from dissoiiativc attachment on C 2N 2 has been obtained in a crossed-beam experiment. Below 10 eV incident electron energy thc CN − cross section shows two broad overlapping peaks with maxima at 5.4 and 7.3 eV corresponding to the formation of CN − in its ground electronic state 1σ + plus the CN radical in the first excited state 2π and the ground stale 2Σ+ respcctively
