Abstract

Abstract An instrument to measure the 220Rn and 222Rn emanation rates for dry solid matter is described. The associated method involves electrostatic precipitation of the positively-charged decay products and measurements of their individual activities. Applications of the technique in determination of the emanating powers involving the individual thorium and uranium series content of minerals and rocks are presented.
