Abstract

Abstract This paper presents an analysis of the technique of cutting narrow slits in rock or frozen soil for burying telephone cables by use of a circular saw. The results indicate that the force on the saw increase with forwarded speed, the number of teeth and cutting edge radius. However with increasing frequency of rotation the force on the saw decreases while power increases.
