Abstract

Abstract Four types of sensitized luminescence of Dy 3+ are reported:(1) by a host having a broad-band spectrum as in Na 3Y 0.99Dy 0.01(VO 4) 2; (2) by a sensitizer having a broad-band spectrum as in Ca 2B 2O 5:Dy 3+, Bi 3+; (3) by a sensitizer having a narrow-band spectrum as in Mg 2Gd 7.9Dy 0.1(SiO 4) 6O 2; (4) by a sensitizer having a broad-band spectrum and energy migration as in Gd compounds such as Ca 1.96Pb 0.04Gd 7.9Dy 0.1(SiO 4) 6O 2. The luminescent intensity of Dy 3+ can be enhanced in these ways.
