Abstract

Abstract The excitable membrane of electroplax is depolarized to different maximal extents with different triggering ligands. The extent of depolarization is also altered by inhibitors. These properties are interpreted in terms of a simple and quantitative molecular mechanism based on the state function of the allosteric model.
