Abstract

Abstract The thermodynamic properties of the Kondo s-d model are calculated analytically in the neighbourhood of the low temperature fixed point J z = ∞. We obtain the simple power laws in the temperature observed experimentally and associated with phenomenological theories. Wilson's universal ratio between susceptibility and specific heat is recovered in the limit of small spin flip exchange coupling J⊥.
