Abstract

Abstract Rats were labelled by an intracerebral injection of [ 3H]leucine and their cortices were used thereafter at times ranging from 1 h to 12 days. Microtubular protein was isolated by vinblastine precipitation and its two polypeptides were separated by urea sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The specific radioactivities of the two polypeptides were determined by cutting the stained electrophoretic bands from the gels. The two polypeptides appeared to turn over with an identical half-life of 3.9 days.
