Abstract

6 Alpha-methyl-17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone acetate (Depo-Provera ®), a progestationalagent, was used in the treatment of 3 girls with idiopathic isosexual precocity. A decrease in the biologic manifestations of estrogen was noted for all patients but there was no deceleration in the rate of linear growth and osseous maturation for the 2 younger patients. There was no decrease in the titer of urinary gonadotropins in the 3 girls with isosexual precocious development or in 3 girls with the XO syndrome during the parenteral administration of Depo-Provera. There was no indication of primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency during treatment.
