Abstract

Abstract Indoor gamma radiation measurement using TLD has been performed in the Coimbatore City. The indoor gamma radiation dose of Coimbatore City is in the range from 115 to 190.6 nGy/h with the geomentric mean value of 157.3 nGy/h. The gamma dose in Coimbatore City has been found to be lesser than that observed at beach side houses (276.25 nGy/h) and higher than that in inland houses (142.68 nGy/h) at Kalpakkam. The indoor gamma radiation in Coimbatore City is more or less equal to that observed along east coast of Tamil Nadu (153.31 nGy/h). The annual effective dose has been calculated as 772.3 μSv/year.
