Abstract

Abstract The ionization potential and the ionization cross section of azulene have been observed by a photoionization method. The photoionization threshold value is 7.39 eV and the adiabatic ionization potential has the value 7.41 eV; which agrees quite well with the spectroscopic value, 7.41 2 eV. The ionization cross section was calculated by the photoionization quantum yield and the absorption cross section, utilizing the photon flux observed by a thermo-pile and the vapor pressure data.
