Abstract

Abstract The influence of the matrix and the applied method on the results for the detection of anabolic residues is discussed. A comparative study was done by analysing different kinds of samples but from the same animal. Injection sites, fat and meat sampled from the same carcass were analysed. Different techniques (liquid chromatography with UV detection, high-performance thin-layer chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) were used to detect and identify the residues and to confirm and compare the results.
