Abstract

Abstract Stress-strain equations for use with stress measurement overcoring techniques are given for transversely isotropic materials. The equations are given for the CSIR triaxial strain cell and the CSIRO HI cell for two borehole orientations relative to the isotropic plane. Determination of the elastic material properties required is discussed and an example of measured results evaluated in terms of the theory is given.
