Three prongτdecays with charged kaons in the final state

Abstract

Recent results from the CLEO experiment on 3-prong τ decays containing a charged kaon are reported. From a direct search for τ − → h − ν τ ( h − = π − or K −) we find model-dependent upper limits on the branching fractions in the range: B( τ − → π − ν τ ) < (1.2 – 2.0) × 10 −4 and B( τ − → K − ν τ ) < (5.4 – 6.7) × 10 −5 at 90% confidence level. We also report the preliminary results B( τ − → K − h + π − ν)/B( τ − → π − π + π − ν) = (4.66 ± 0.29 ± 0.81)% and B( τ − → K − h + π − ν)/B( τ − → h − h + h − ν) = (4.45 ± 0.29 ± 0.81)%.
