Abstract

Studies were conducted in rats to investigate the metabolism of fluoride whenprovided as a constituent of two chewable and two liquid multivitamin preparations. Data obtained after 30 and 60 day experimental periods revealed no significant differences in fluoride retention or in the fluoride excretion pattern between any of the experimental groups. The data suggest that there is no interference by any of the ingredients of the preparations used in this study on fluoride metabolism when the retention of fluoride in the carcass and femur is used as an index of fluoride availability.
